https://doi.org/10.26619/1647-7251.DT0626

8 articles in this special issue bring together interdisciplinary contributions that examine how contemporary geopolitical anxieties reshape borders, identities, and political imaginaries across Europe and Asia. Drawing on perspectives from international relations, political science, migration studies, cultural and literary studies, and law, the issue explores the changing meanings of belonging, sovereignty, and connectivity in an era marked by geopolitical uncertainty and global transformation. The contributions address a range of interconnected themes, including ideological realignments and political contestation, migration and mobility, digital and AI governance, regional and transregional cooperation, public diplomacy, economic relations, and the cultural and historical dimensions of bordering and unbordering. Across these diverse topics, the articles investigate how states, institutions, and societies respond to emerging challenges by redefining boundaries—both physical and symbolic—and renegotiating identities in a rapidly changing international environment. Taken together, the contributions highlight the value of anxiety as an analytical lens for understanding contemporary geopolitical dynamics and the evolving relationships between ideology, identity, and processes of (un)bordering in the twenty-first century.
