The thematic dossier (TD) “Twenty years of the African Union: past, present, and future” presents contributions that critically reflect on the African Union's (AU) agency in various areas of African international politics. The analysis focuses on the AU's political system, but also on its institutional and legal developments. The first question that guided the preparation of this DT was: is the African Union a relevant actor in African politics and beyond? The DT was coordinated by Professors Rui Garrido, Mojana Vargas, and Yasmine Loza, and includes five scientific articles that combine different perspectives and thematic approaches.
